Starrbar 🌻Last random thought for now. I've had these notes all piled up and I wanted to put them somewhere.It's interesting to me that Bojack was calling his mother Beatrice during the time she was staying at their house and (mostly) getting along with everyone. I think it makes sense that he would go for her name instead of continuing to call her Mom, because Mom is the person who told him he was worthless and a burden and wouldn't amount to anything and that he had BETTER amount to something or else he's a mistake. Mom is the person who was constantly screaming at Dad and blaming Bojack for everything. Beatrice is an old horse lady with dementia. Beatrice might have been Mom at some point, but she isn't anymore. Not until she gets caught for what she did to Hollyhock. Then Beatrice disappears and Mom returns.Now, uhhhh... checking back, I might actually be wrong about this, but I'm not sure? He was calling her Beatrice during the card game, but he was very distrusting of her before that and was directly talking about their relationship right before she got caught and he was already calling her Mom in that scene, so I don't know if this was actually intended or not? But it's a neat thought either way. Starrbar 🌻I feel like when people say that the first few episodes of Bojack Horseman are bad, what they really mean is that they don't show off the show's full potential. They don't display the aspects of the show that everyone raves about. They're simpler and kind of just funny and a bit more formulaic and predictable than even the later comedy.Or they might just genuinely mean that the episodes suck? But I personally enjoy them and I often listen to Bojack for the comedy as much as the darker stuff, so that's just me.
