What do you guys prefer when playing a character in an RPG?
The chosen one whose destiny has been intertwined with the fate of the world who wields power he's had since being born, OR the random guy who saves everyone with sheer willpower alone?
Think OoT Link VS WW Link.
Personally, I like the random guy approach more. They have always been my more favorite characters, I think because it makes it more relatable. Playing Skyrim without actually being dragonborn is awesome.
Destiny characters can still be cool though, like Aang from ATLA, but it wouldn't be nearly as good of a show if literally all his friends (except Zuko I suppose, technically) weren't just regular people in comparison (especially Sokka).
@beardalaxy Depends on the capabilities given. If I play someone that is swinging the ultra blade of megadeath and doing giga super shock strike against god... That's not a normal person, don't pretend it is. Have played games with cartoonishly powerful nobodies.
But in general I do like a nobody, with the game giving you the same tools as ordinary people but the guile to find a way through mountainous adversity.
