1. This image does NOT reflect modern animation as a whole as it leaves out uniquely great shows such as Primal, Love Death & Robots, Phineas and Ferb, Bluey, and Carmen Sandiego.
2. These character designs were all criticized for looking the same and lazy. Uhh...no? Like, even a small child can tell the difference between a kid, a fish and a bear.
3. Then there's this lazy shit which tries to make it seem like the character designers were copying each other's homework. It's painfully obvious the person who made this had to force the characters to look like each other because Dipper and Star's mouths don't actually go that big in their respective shows.
4. CalArts is NOT a style, it's a fucking school! They don't teach you how to draw a specific way, they teach you how to use modern filmaking tools to bring your visions to life.
5. You know the term "CalArts style" was coined by a hasbeen cartoonist/sexual predator, right? Yeah, don't listen to that motherfucker John K as he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about 
6. Modern cartoons and animated movies are so much more diverse now than they were back when animation got started. Don't @ me with your whole "mOdErN aNiMaTiOn LoOkS tHe SaMe" bullshit!
7. Last but not least, animation isn't just for kids. It's for everyone. I don't want to hear anybody say "it's not that deep. It's for kids." That's the same bullshit everuone and their fucking grandmother called out the Oscars for -.-

@Eris there is no CalArts style. CalArts doesn't have a specific style. It's a school that teaches aspiring students how to use filmmaking tools and principles to bring unique visions to life.
It is a specific style identified by viewers, which is associated with CalArts as many of its users went there. It is not literally saying they went to CalArts. I hope this helps get through to your autism.

Also why are we talking about how bad some random guy is? What that have to do with this style being ugly and monotonous and ubiquitous?
@Eris because the term is bullshit! It was coined by a bitter hasbeen who everyone hates. And because everyone hates him, everything that comes out of his mouth is fucking bullshit! Slapping CalArts style onto anything is fucking bullshit because it's nothing but insulting to the character designers and the people who actually go to CalArts! John K did this and people rightfully called him out on it (among other things).
